Bruce Springsteen’s Funny Karaoke Mishap Revealed before Biopic Premiere
Bruce Springsteen recently shared a humorous anecdote about his experience with karaoke during an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live. The discussion took place prior to the release of his upcoming biopic, Springsteen: Deliver Me From Nowhere.
Reflecting on his one and only attempt at karaoke, Springsteen recounted, “I decided I was going to do The Temptations’ ‘Ain’t Too Proud to Beg.’ And so I assume, I’m gonna get up there, I’m going to sing a few notes, and this place is going to go wild. So I got up there, I started singing, and they thought I was just another [guy] … who got up onstage and was trying to do karaoke. So it was really disappointing. I’ve never done it again.”
The legendary rockstar, who boasts 20 GRAMMY awards, appeared on the show alongside actor Jeremy Allen White, who portrays Springsteen in the biopic. The film delves into the creation of Springsteen’s 1982 album, Nebraska, showcasing the artist’s creative process and personal journey.
During the interview, White shared his excitement about filming at New Jersey’s iconic Stone Pony venue in Asbury Park. He described the energy of the scene, stating, “There’s about 300 really excited background actors and most of them are from New Jersey and maybe even from around Asbury Park.”
Director Scott Cooper shed light on the film’s focus on the authenticity and emotion behind Nebraska. He explained, “I was interested in a man who’s sitting alone in a bedroom with a four-track recorder facing this unresolved trauma and mental health illness, asking the questions that we all often ask when we’re lost … I knew at that point this was a film I had to make.”
Springsteen’s biopic is set to premiere on October 24, featuring an ensemble cast that includes Jeremy Strong, Paul Walter Hauser, Stephen Graham, Odessa Young, Gaby Hoffmann, Marc Maron, and David Krumholtz.
Overall, the conversation on Jimmy Kimmel Live provided a glimpse into the upcoming biopic’s exploration of Springsteen’s music, personal struggles, and creative process, offering fans a deeper understanding of the iconic artist’s journey.
