HGTV Star Makes Unexpected Comeback with Series Premiere Tonight
Usually, when HGTV launches a new series, it is accompanied by a significant amount of excitement, including press releases, promos, and social media posts. However, a surprise new series featuring long-time HGTV personality Mike Holmes and his family is set to debut with little advance notice.
The renowned Canadian contractor and his adult children, Mike Holmes Jr. and Sherry Holmes, shared the news through their individual social media posts, revealing that “Holmes on Homes: Building a Legacy” will have its U.S. premiere on October 7, 2025.
In a social media post on October 6, Holmes expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “Happy to announce that my new series, Holmes on Homes: Building A Legacy, premieres tomorrow on HGTV US. I hope you enjoy watching the episodes as much as we enjoyed filming them.”
Despite the lack of prior promotion, HGTV finally revealed the show on the morning of its premiere by posting a preview video on social media platforms.
The preview video showcases footage of Holmes and his children working on home renovations, with Holmes emphasizing, “I’ve had a lifelong passion for construction. I founded a construction business to ‘make it right’ for countless homeowners over the years.”
He then discusses his philosophy of treating each project as more than just a renovation, highlighting the family’s commitment to helping other families and passing on their skills to a new generation of tradespeople as part of building a legacy.
Following a two-year absence from HGTV screens, the Holmes family trio returned during the summer with the premiere of the third season of “Holmes Family Rescue” on June 4. Together, they tackled eight episodes dedicated to rectifying issues created by careless or dishonest contractors, embodying Mike’s signature slogan, “make it right.”
Holmes has been a fixture on various TV shows in both the U.S. and Canada, starting with the debut of “Holmes on Homes” on HGTV Canada in 2003. The family-oriented series, “Holmes Family Rescue,” premiered in December 2021, marking the participation of Holmes’ adult children, Michael and Sherry, who play integral roles in the family business.
“I’m so fortunate to have built a team with my son Michael, who can build anything, and my daughter Sherry, who is very passionate about helping people and has a great eye for design. We’re a family business that’s in the business of helping families, and that feels good,” said Holmes in a press release.
“Holmes on Homes: Building a Legacy” is set to premiere on October 7 at 9 p.m. Eastern time, inviting viewers to join the Holmes family as they continue their mission of making a positive impact through their construction work and home renovations.
