In a recent video update from the developers at Riot Games, League of Legends players got a glimpse of what’s to come for the popular ARAM: Mayhem mode. This new iteration of the mode will introduce game-changing augments that allow players to power up their champions in new and exciting ways, adding a fresh layer of strategy and creativity to every ARAM match.

Players familiar with games like Arena or TFT will recognize the concept of augments, which provide powerful buffs to champions that go beyond traditional power spikes from ability rank ups or items. The goal of ARAM: Mayhem is to offer more than just chaos; it’s about unlocking unique and creative playstyles while still capturing the essence of the ARAM experience.

At the beginning of each ARAM: Mayhem match, players will choose one of three augments to start their build. Additional augments will become available at levels 7, 11, and 15, allowing players to further enhance their champions throughout the game. Players can also acquire augments on death, providing opportunities to adapt their strategy as the match progresses.

The inspiration for ARAM: Mayhem came from Wild Rift’s AAA ARAM mode, which introduced augments as a way to enhance gameplay in a fast-paced 5v5 setting. With the success of this mode and the positive response from players, the developers sought to combine the strategic depth of Arena with the exhilarating experience of Wild Rift’s ARAM mode, resulting in the creation of ARAM: Mayhem.

The development of ARAM: Mayhem was a collaborative effort between an engineer and a designer, who worked together to merge the augments from Arena with the fast-paced teamfights of ARAM. Despite its initial simplicity, the prototype of the mode proved to be thrilling and engaging, capturing the essence of ARAM while introducing exciting new gameplay mechanics.

In addition to introducing ARAM: Mayhem, the dev team also addressed the issue of smurfing and smurf accounts in League of Legends. Moving forward, the team plans to implement stricter enforcement measures against players who engage in unfair account behavior, ensuring that the game remains enjoyable and fair for all players.

Overall, the future looks bright for League of Legends players, with the upcoming ARAM: Mayhem mode promising a fresh and exciting take on the classic ARAM experience. With new augments and gameplay mechanics, players can look forward to exploring new strategies and playstyles in one of the game’s most beloved modes.
