Former Verve frontman Richard Ashcroft starts Oasis Brazil tour with sold-out Morumbi concerts
Former lead vocalist of The Verve, Richard Ashcroft, is set to kick off the Oasis reunion tour shows in Brazil. Live Nation recently announced that Ashcroft will be taking the stage on November 22 and 23, 2025, at Morumbi Stadium in São Paulo. Tickets for these highly anticipated performances sold out rapidly after becoming available.
This will mark Ashcroft’s second trip to Brazil in 2025, after his appearances in June at the Best of Blues and Rock festival held in Ibirapuera Park. His inclusion in the Oasis tour highlights the interconnectedness between britpop artists, with Ashcroft opening for several of Oasis’s shows around the globe.
The British rock band Oasis, fronted by brothers Liam and Noel Gallagher, is making a comeback to the music scene after a hiatus of 16 years. Their performances at Morumbi Stadium are the only South American dates on their schedule, with each show accommodating a staggering 74,000 fans.
Oasis and The Verve share a significant history within the 1990s britpop movement. In fact, Oasis had supported The Verve during a tour in 1993 just before the release of their debut album, Definitely Maybe. Noel Gallagher’s dedication of the song “Cast No Shadow” to Richard Ashcroft on the 1995 album “(What’s the Story) Morning Glory?” exemplifies the deep respect and admiration between the two musicians.
Acknowledging the influential role the Gallagher brothers played in his musical journey, Ashcroft has expressed his appreciation for their impact on his career. During his recent live performances, he made it a point to emphasize Oasis’s profound influence on his songwriting process.
The Oasis Live ’25 tour commenced in July 2025 at Principality Stadium in Cardiff, Wales. The band has already performed in cities like Manchester, London, and Edinburgh before embarking on their international tour dates across various continents. With its impressive band lineup consisting of Liam and Noel Gallagher, Andy Bell, Gem Archer, Paul “Bonehead” Arthurs, and Joey Waronker, Oasis has managed to sell out tickets for their European shows within minutes, sparking discussions around dynamic pricing strategies.
Brazilian fans eagerly anticipate Oasis’s performances in Sao Paulo, with high expectations for a captivating setlist showcasing their greatest hits like “Wonderwall” and “Don’t Look Back in Anger.” Stadium preparations are underway for a seamless and unforgettable concert experience, with enhanced security measures in place to accommodate the massive crowd.
As Richard Ashcroft returns to Brazil for another exciting performance, his opening set is sure to invigorate the audience and set the stage for Oasis to deliver an electrifying show. The rich history of britpop and the enduring legacy of bands like Oasis and The Verve continue to resonate with fans, creating a nostalgic and unforgettable musical experience for audiences worldwide.
