2025 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductees announced
The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame unveiled its Class of 2025 during a special broadcast of “American Idol.” The inductees in the Performer category are Bad Company, Chubby Checker, Joe Cocker, Cyndi Lauper, Outkast, Soundgarden, and The White Stripes, each having released their first commercial recording at least 25 years prior to their nomination. The 2025 Induction Ceremony is set for November 8, to be held at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles, with live streaming options available.
Adding to the list of inductees is Salt-N-Pepa and Warren Zevon, who will be recognized in the Musical Influence category for their impact on rock & roll and music culture. Thom Bell, a songwriter, producer, and arranger known for his work with iconic artists in the smooth Philadelphia Soul Sound, will be honored in the Music Excellence category. Additionally, studio musicians Nicky Hopkins and Carol Kaye will be acknowledged for their influential contributions to the music industry.
The Ahmet Ertegun Award, recognizing individuals who have made significant contributions to the music industry, will be presented to Lenny Waronker, a respected music producer and former president of Warner Bros. Records. Notably, fan favorites like Phish and Billy Idol, despite winning the Rock Hall Fan Vote, did not make the final inductee list, much to the dismay of their loyal supporters. Mariah Carey, a second-time nominee, was also excluded from the lineup, disappointing her fans.
Among the Performer Inductees, Bad Company, Chubby Checker, Joe Cocker, and Outkast have become first-ballot Hall of Famers. The White Stripes, Cyndi Lauper, and Soundgarden, all receiving multiple nominations, have finally secured their spots in the prestigious Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. Each inductee brings a unique contribution to the world of music, showcasing a diverse range of talents and influences.
Bad Company, known for their bluesy tenor and hit records like “Bad Company” and “Feel Like Makin’ Love,” emerged from the merger of Free with ex-members of Mott The Hoople and King Crimson. Chubby Checker, famous for popularizing dance crazes with songs like “The Twist” and “Pony Time,” brings decades of musical innovation to the Hall of Fame. Joe Cocker, with his soulful voice and masterful interpretations of popular songs, has left an indelible mark on the music industry.
Overall, the Class of 2025 for the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame represents a diverse and talented group of artists who have made significant contributions to the world of music. Their induction serves as a testament to their lasting impact on rock & roll and cultural influence, solidifying their place in music history.
