Dave Grohl surprises fans with covers of iconic songs during live performance

Dave Grohl made an unexpected appearance at the Oakwood Live event, a charity show at a school in Los Angeles, this past weekend. The lead singer of Foo Fighters was accompanied by his bandmate Rami Jaffee, as well as drummer Wiley Hodgen and bassist/vocalist John Lousteau, where they performed a five-song set of covers.

The performance began with a rendition of LCD Soundsystem’s “Daft Punk Is Playing at My House” and continued with covers of The Knack’s “My Sharona,” Queen and David Bowie’s popular hit “Under Pressure” featuring The Struts’ vocalist Luke Spiller, and Bowie’s “Moonage Daydream” performed alongside Lisa Loeb.

This year has been quite eventful for Grohl. In January, he spent his birthday preparing meals for those affected by the wildfires in Los Angeles; in February, he teamed up with Post Malone to reunite Nirvana for the SNL 50th Anniversary concert; in March, he collaborated with Jack Black on a track for the A Minecraft Movie’s soundtrack. Additionally, he surprised attendees at Coachella this month by joining the Los Angeles Philharmonic to perform Foo Fighters tracks “The Sky Is a Neighborhood” and “Everlong,” marking his first performance of the band’s songs since wrapping up their tour last summer.

Following the end of the Foo Fighters tour this summer, Grohl decided to take it easy. In September, he disclosed the arrival of a new baby outside of his marriage, and it was rumored that the band subsequently canceled their touring plans for 2025.
