David Lee Roth Confirms Tour Dates After Retirement Remarks
David Lee Roth has announced a tour set to launch this summer, despite his previous statements about retiring from performing. The tour is slated to begin on July 22 in Paso Robles, California, and concludes on September 14 in Napa, California. A detailed itinerary can be found on DavidLeeRoth.com/tour.
This tour news comes as a surprise given that Roth had declared his retirement in an interview with the Las Vegas Review-Journal back in October 2021. In the interview, he stated, “I am throwing in the shoes. I’m retiring…I’m not going to explain the statement. The explanation is in a safe … I’ve given you all I’ve got to give. It’s been an amazing, great run, no regrets, nothing to say about anybody. I’ll miss you all. Stay frosty.” Roth also hinted at his mortality and the passing of Eddie Van Halen as factors influencing his decision to retire, saying, “I am encouraged and compelled to really come to grips with how short time is, and my time is probably even shorter…I thought I might have been the first, frankly … ‘Hey Ed, objects in the rear-view mirror are probably me.’ And my doctors, my handlers, compelled me to really address that every time I go onstage, I endanger that future.”
Despite these retirement statements, Roth recently took to the stage at the M3 Rock Festival in Maryland on May 3. Perhaps this return to performing reignited his passion for being on stage, prompting him to announce his upcoming tour dates?
The upcoming tour will see David Lee Roth perform in various locations across the United States, including Hollywood, Florida; Tampa, Florida; Bristol, Virginia; Atlantic City, New Jersey; Huntington, New York; Hampton Beach, New Hampshire; Verona, New York; Bethlehem, Pennsylvania; Gary, Indiana; Cincinnati, Ohio; St. Louis, Missouri; Saratoga, California; and Napa, California.
Fans of David Lee Roth and his energetic performances will undoubtedly be excited to see him back on tour, despite his previous retirement announcements. This tour marks a chance for fans to experience the thrill of seeing the iconic rockstar perform live once again.
