From Shades delivering an incredible electronic spectacle in Grand Rapids to Jon Hayes unveiling new music in Kalamazoo and a record label’s anniversary celebration, West Michigan experienced an exciting weekend full of live music. Fans were thrilled by Heaters’ energetic closing set at The Pyramid Scheme on Friday, marking a special moment in the local music scene.
The 11th anniversary of Dizzybird Records was celebrated at The Pyramid Scheme in Grand Rapids with a lineup that included Georgia’s Gringo Star showcasing a new album and the nostalgic reunion of Heaters, an iconic psych-rock band from West Michigan. The night also featured impressive performances by Hollywood Makeout and Crystal Trench, along with a fun dance contest that kept spirits high.
Just a few blocks away in Grand Rapids, Pop Evil rocked GLC Live at 20 Monroe for a homecoming show, while country sensation Kane Brown took over Van Andel Arena. Meanwhile, electronic music act Shades added to the musical excitement at The Intersection, creating a diverse and lively concert scene throughout the city.
In Kalamazoo on Friday, Out of Favor Boys celebrated the release of their latest album, “Love & Sorrow,” with a lively show at Bell’s Brewery Eccentric Cafe. The band delivered two full sets filled with jamming tunes, special guests, and plenty of lively dancing by the crowd. The following night, Jon Hayes took the stage with an EP-preview-release show, joined by Deerfield Run for another night of music and celebration at Bell’s.
Earlier in the week, music lovers in Holland were treated to an electrifying performance by Dave Bruzza of Greensky Bluegrass at Park Theatre, while the Full Cord trio delighted audiences with their award-winning bluegrass charm at SpeakEZ Lounge in Grand Rapids as part of the Local Spins Wednesdays series. This series will come to a close with Local Spins’ 13th anniversary party featuring The Legal Immigrants on May 21.
The weekend was rounded out with a variety of music experiences across West Michigan, showcasing the region’s vibrant and diverse music scene.
