Jillian Lauren Shriner, the spouse of Weezer bassist Scott Shriner, found herself in legal trouble as a result of a police encounter that occurred last month in which she was shot. Shriner, who has authored books under the name Lauren, faces serious charges after pleading not guilty to firearm-related offenses that could lead to a maximum sentence of 19 years in prison.

The incident transpired on April 8 when law enforcement officers came across Shriner while chasing suspects involved in a hit-and-run in Los Angeles. As they entered a backyard near the Eagle Rock neighborhood, they spotted Shriner armed with a handgun in a neighboring yard. Body cameras worn by the police and footage from home surveillance cameras captured the officers instructing Shriner to drop her weapon, a demand she reportedly ignored. Instead, she was seen raising and aiming the gun towards a fence where the officers were seeking cover. Subsequently, the police fired at her, hitting her in the shoulder.

Following the shooting, Shriner was taken into custody and received medical treatment for non-life-threatening injuries sustained from the gunshot wounds. Initially facing charges of attempted murder, she was found to possess a 9-millimeter handgun at her residence. Despite the incident, Weezer proceeded with their performance at Coachella a few days later.

Jillian Lauren Shriner is a well-known writer who previously worked as a call girl for Jefri Bolkiah, the Prince of Brunei, an experience she documented in her first memoir titled “Some Girls: My Life in a Harem,” published in 2010. Shriner also authored the novel “Pretty” in 2011, followed by the memoir “Everything You Ever Wanted” in 2015, and the true crime book “Behold the Monster: Confronting America’s Most Prolific Serial Killer” in 2020.
