Massive manhunt as 11 New Orleans inmates escape from jail and are ‘likely’ on the run

A significant manhunt is currently underway after 11 individuals managed to escape from a detention facility in New Orleans, with authorities cautioning the public about their potentially threatening nature. One of the escapees, Kendall Myles, age 20, was apprehended in the French Quarter by law enforcement officers following a short pursuit on foot. However, the remaining ten individuals are still at large.

According to reports, the inmates were discovered missing during a routine headcount at the Orleans Justice Center on a Friday morning. Orleans Parish Sheriff Susan Hutson stated that the department is collaborating with various law enforcement agencies at the local, state, and federal levels to locate the fugitives. Hutson further mentioned that a comprehensive investigation is being conducted to determine the circumstances that led to the escape, including scrutinizing facility procedures, staff performance, and physical security measures.

Sheriff Hutson emphasized, “Any deficiencies or oversights contributing to this incident will be promptly addressed with full accountability.” Authorities are urging the general public to exercise caution and stay vigilant. New Orleans Police Superintendent Anne Kirkpatrick suggested that the escapees have most likely received assistance and changed their attire. She also noted that some individuals who were targeted by the escapees have been relocated to safety.

In a bid to maintain public safety, the Orleans Justice Center is currently under lockdown. Reports indicate that the inmates utilized a hole in the facility’s wall to facilitate their escape. The individuals who are still at large include Antoine Massey, 33, Lenton Vanburen, 27, Leo Tate, 31, Derrick Groves, 27, Jermaine Donald, 42, Corey Boyd, 20, Keith Lewis, 35, Dkenen Dennis, 24, Gary Price, 21, and Robert Moody, 21. These escapees face various charges, ranging from murder to theft.

The situation calls for heightened awareness and caution from the public, as law enforcement continues their efforts to locate and apprehend the remaining escapees. As the investigation progresses, authorities are working diligently to ensure the safety and security of the community.
