Croft Rock festival returns to new venue with exciting updates
Croft Rock festival is making a comeback with a fresh venue this Bank Holiday Weekend. The festival, a staple in Barrow’s event calendar, is celebrating its 13th year with an exciting twist. This year, Croft Rock has relocated to Roose Pioneers ARLFC training ground on Flass Lane, offering a larger space with enhanced facilities for attendees.
Mark Russell, the festival organizer, expressed enthusiasm about the venue change, noting that the new location is more convenient and provides better amenities. Additionally, the decision to move the festival to a local club’s premises ensures that the community benefits from the event. The shift in venue marks a significant milestone for Croft Rock, promising a dynamic and memorable experience for festival-goers.
Scheduled for Sunday, May 25, the 2025 event will feature two performance stages showcasing an array of talented local artists. The Zaccarini Stage will host acts such as The Vagrants, PV-77, Waiting For Midnight, and more, while the Doghouse Stage will feature performers like Jack Dale, Meg & Glen, and Ukelear Twosome. Organizers are anticipating a crowd of approximately 600 people throughout the day, highlighting the festival’s enduring popularity within the community.
Croft Rock originated in August 2012 when Mark Russell noticed a lack of events celebrating the bank holiday weekend in the area. Since its inception, the festival has grown in scope and impact, providing a platform for emerging artists to showcase their talent and support charitable causes. All profits generated from the event will be divided between the Alzheimer’s Society Furness and Cancer Care Cumbria, reflecting Croft Rock’s commitment to giving back to the community.
In addition to live music performances, attendees can look forward to an array of culinary delights from various food trucks on-site, including BBQ, pizzas, and sweet treats like candyfloss. The rugby club’s bar will also be open to serve beverages, ensuring a lively and festive atmosphere for all visitors. The event, commencing at 12pm and lasting until late, promises a day of entertainment, good music, and charitable contributions.
Mark Russell emphasized the collaborative spirit of Croft Rock, highlighting that everyone involved, from organizers to artists, contributes their time and talent for charity. Over the years, the festival has raised significant funds for various charitable organizations, with this year’s event aiming to surpass the £100,000 mark in total donations. Tickets for Croft Rock are priced at £15 for adults, £10 for teenagers, and free for children under 12, underscoring the festival’s commitment to inclusivity and community engagement.
As Croft Rock prepares to unveil its latest installment at a new venue, the excitement and anticipation among organizers and attendees are palpable. The festival’s enduring legacy as a platform for local talent and charitable giving continues to resonate with the community, making it a must-attend event on Barrow’s cultural calendar. With a diverse lineup of performances, delectable food options, and a vibrant atmosphere, Croft Rock promises an unforgettable experience for music lovers and festival-goers alike.
