It was like a part of my heart was ripped out,” she recalled in the Becoming Madonna documentary that aired on Sky back in January.”I was forced to grow up fast and understand my mother’s death, to understand the psychological, all things that were going on. It was too much for a child I think.”Her mother passed away in 1963(Image: Madonna/Instagram)Last Mother’s Day, the superstar posted a heartbreaking tribute to her mom on Instagram. “Nobody told me my mother was dying,” she wrote.”I just watched her disintegrate mysteriously, and then she disappeared, and there was no explanation except that she had gone to sleep, which explains my tumultuous relationship with sleep.”The Material Girl singer spent the holiday with her 12-year-old identical twin daughters Estere and Stella, 19-year-old daughter Mercy, 28-year-old daughter Lourdes Leon, and 19-year-old son David Banda. Her 24-year-old son Rocco Ritchie was not in the group photo.”Sunshine laughter, horseback riding, soccer, and the sound of music!” she wrote, “The best gift they gave me was the gift of not arguing and being loving to one another.
