’90s Band Stuns Fans with Rare Performance of Hit Song
After gaining immense popularity with their 1993 smash hit “What’s Up?”, the band 4 Non Blondes disbanded the following year, leaving fans around the globe disappointed. Therefore, it was a significant event when the groundbreaking alternative rock group came together once again over the weekend to perform the iconic ’90s anthem, much to the delight of music enthusiasts.
A video was posted on TikTok by Spin showcasing lead singer Linda Perry, who is now 59 years old, strumming an acoustic guitar and passionately singing the unforgettable lyrics while donning one of her trademark eccentric hats at the Wonderfront Music & Arts Festival in San Diego. The caption highlighted that this was only the second time the band had performed the song since 1994, with the previous instance occurring at Perry’s Evening For Women event in Los Angeles back in 2014, marking the band’s only other concert in the past three decades.
The video generated an overwhelmingly positive response from viewers. One fan went on to describe the song as “one of the most important in rock history,” while another person complimented the performance by noting that it “still sounds amazing.” Additional comments poured in praising the band and their hit song, reflecting the enduring impact of their music.
During an interview on The Allison Hagendorf Show earlier this year, Perry discussed her reunion with her former bandmates, announcing that they are slated to take the stage together once again at the BottleRock Napa Valley music festival later this month. Expressing her sentiments, Perry mentioned, “It’s the right time in my heart. I’ve been kind of putting that energy out because I want 2025 to be my year. I want to own this year because I feel like I’ve been planting seeds all over the place and I’m watching my little trees grow.”
The reunion performance at the Wonderfront Music & Arts Festival not only thrilled fans but also reignited interest in the band and their music, solidifying their status as an influential ’90s group. The nostalgic trip down memory lane with 4 Non Blondes and their timeless hit song served as a reminder of the enduring power of music to unite people across generations.
