Wednesday, a rock band led by Karly Hartzman and her group of talented musicians from Asheville, North Carolina, has launched a new single today, titled “Elderberry Wine.” This release, accompanied by a music video, marks Wednesday’s first offering since their highly praised album Rat Saw God resonated with rock enthusiasts back in 2023. The track is available for viewing and listening below.

According to Hartzman, “Elderberry Wine” delves into the idea that what may initially seem sweet in life – such as love, familial bonds, or success – can turn toxic if not handled and nurtured properly. She drew inspiration from elderberries, known for their healing properties and use in various tonics to support the immune system. Hartzman recounts an incident where her sister consumed raw elderberries, resulting in immediate vomiting. Thus, the song ultimately encapsulates a love narrative about establishing the right conditions for mutual growth. To avoid poisoning each other, especially in romantic relationships, a delicate equilibrium must be maintained for two distinct paths to converge harmoniously.

Tonight, Wednesday will showcase their latest creation and make their debut television appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. Fans can catch the performance at 11:35 PM ET/10:35 PM CT on CBS.
