The rock star, who gained fame in the ’70s as the lead singer of the London punk band Generation X before embarking on a successful solo career, took to Instagram to address a concerning situation brought to his attention.

In a recent social media post, Idol shared a screenshot of messages he had received, detailing a fan’s encounter with a scammer who provided a fake seat code and special meet and greet offer for an upcoming concert in Toronto. The fraudulent individual even claimed to be Billy Idol, using recordings of his voice to interact with fans via Telegram.

Firmly denying any association with the scam, Idol’s caption unequivocally informed fans, “There r scammers out there soliciting $ pretending to b me I would not solicit money from u personally so don’t believe them.” He concluded his post with a gracious thank you, making it clear that he had no connection to the dubious activities and urging his followers to exercise caution.
