John Fogerty records Creedence Clearwater Revival classics he now owns for ‘Legacy’ collection
John Fogerty has taken control of his musical legacy and will be releasing his album Legacy: the Creedence Clearwater Revival years on August 22 through Concord. Having regained the rights to his CCR songs in 2023, Fogerty expressed his excitement over finally owning the music he had penned throughout his career. The release of Legacy allows him to approach his music anew, over which he now has full ownership, offering a fresh perspective on his classic works.
During his 80th birthday celebration at the Beacon Theatre in New York City, Fogerty unveiled this upcoming project to the delight of his fans. His new album features reimagined versions of beloved CCR tracks, such as “Fortunate Son,” “Proud Mary,” and “Green River,” among others. This commemorative collection comprises 20 tracks in total, produced in collaboration with his son Shane Fogerty, who also contributes as a musician on the album alongside his brother Tyler Fogerty.
