Cam announces small London concert and new album ‘All Things Light’
In light of her recent single release, Alchemy, the award-winning singer Cam has unveiled her third studio album, All Things Light, set to be released on July 18th via RCA Records. Along with the album announcement, Cam has also disclosed an upcoming special live performance in London at The Tabernacle on July 10th, marking her return to the UK stage since her last appearance at the Roundhouse in 2023.
This show at The Tabernacle will serve as an exclusive sneak peek into Cam’s new album, with early access tickets for fans going on pre-sale starting June 18th, followed by general sale on June 19th. All Things Light promises to be a transformative phase in Cam’s career, blending genres like country, folk, and avant-garde pop to produce what critics are calling her most visionary work yet. Inspired by the introspection and growth experienced during early motherhood amidst the pandemic, the album delves into themes of identity, mortality, and human connection, all seen through the lens of Cam’s personal journey with her daughter Lucy.
In discussing the album, Cam shared that as Lucy started questioning life and death, she felt compelled to create something truthful and enduring, a legacy of insights for her daughter. The album kicks off with Turns Out That I Am God, a powerful and contemplative piece that combines emotive vocals, raw guitar melodies, and philosophical reflections. Cam draws from the teachings of Alan Watts, exploring the concept that we are all divine beings who have simply forgotten our true nature, prompting listeners to consider how acknowledging this shared divinity might shape our actions and lives.
Working closely with longtime producer Tyler Johnson and an impressive lineup of collaborators including Michael Uzowuru, Ethan Gruska, and Jeff Bhasker, Cam brings her distinct voice to a project fueled by the same creative wellspring that led to her contribution to BeyoncĂ©’s acclaimed album, COWBOY CARTER. The album reflects a journey of catharsis and contemplation, offering listeners a rich tapestry of thoughtful lyrics, intimate honesty, and, above all, illumination.
In unveiling All Things Light, Cam invites audiences on a sonic journey filled with depth and reflection. The blend of personal introspection, profound insights, and musical innovation promises a listening experience that is both enlightening and emotionally resonant, echoing the transformative power of art and creativity.
