Up-and-coming Canadian Pop Singers Alicia Moffet and Alex Porat Gain Popularity on the Music Scene

Emerging Canadian pop artists Alicia Moffet and Alex Porat are making waves on the Billboard Canadian Airplay charts with their latest tracks, “Lay Your Light” and “Face Like Yours.” Alicia Moffet, hailing from Montreal, showcased her talent at Billboard Canada THE STAGE at NXNE and is steadily climbing the Canada CHR/Top 40 chart with her single “Lay Your Light.” The dance-pop track features Moffet’s soulful vocals set to a captivating beat and has moved up seven spots to No. 32 in its second week on the chart, dated June 21. Her newest album, “No, I’m Not Crying,” released on May 30, is out on the Cult Nation label, known for talents like Charlotte Cardin and Lubalin.

Toronto’s Alex Porat is also gaining traction on the charts with her track “Face Like Yours,” part of her upcoming EP “crushed!” to be released on June 27. Despite being on the chart for 12 weeks, the upbeat song continues on an upward trajectory, peaking at No. 20. Porat recently joined The Beaches at Billboard Canada Managers to Watch to honor their shared manager, Laurie Lee Boutet, who bagged Manager of the Year accolades. On the Canada Hot AC chart, established Canadian pop artists like Shawn Desman and Jamie Fine’s “BODY” and Avril Lavigne’s “Young & Dumb” featuring Simple Plan are also gaining momentum.

In addition, emerging Canadian country singer Jade Eagleson has risen to No. 19 on the All-Format chart with “Worth The Trouble,” while Tate McRae’s “Revolving Door” has made its debut on the CHR/Top 40 chart at No. 40. With multiple tracks on various spots on the chart, McRae is capturing audiences with hits like “Sports Car” and her feature on Morgan Wallen’s “What I Want.”

At the top of the airplay charts, Alex Warren’s “Ordinary” continues to dominate, teetering between No. 1 and No. 2 on the All-Format, Hot AC, and AC Airplay charts. Canadian artists like Tyler Park and Green Day are also making moves, with Park rising to No. 5 on the Country chart and Green Day’s “One Eyed Bastard” climbing to No. 1 on the Mainstream Rock Airplay chart. Toronto band The Beaches is leading the Modern Rock chart for the second consecutive week with “Last Girls at the Party,” while Vancouver alt-band Hotel Mira’s “Making Progress” has moved up to No. 4.
