After a hiatus of more than 20 years, Squirtgun, the veterans of Lookout Records, have made a comeback with their latest single, “Sunflowers.” This song narrates the heartbreaking true story of Mario Calvi, an anti-fascist Resistance fighter who tragically lost his life at the hands of Nazi soldiers just a day after the conclusion of World War II, right in front of his mother. The emotional connection to the story runs deep within the band, as bassist and producer Mass Giorgini revealed in a recent press release. Giorgini shared that Mario was not just a historical figure but a part of his family. He reminisced about how his mother referred to Mario as ‘uncle,’ and how he grew up hearing Mario’s story in the very farmhouse where he lived, passed down through generations by Mario’s mother and Giorgini’s great-aunt.

Furthermore, the release of “Sunflowers” also signifies the debut of Squirtgun’s new “Supersoaker” lineup, which is set to perform at the upcoming Punk Rock Raduno event in Bergamo, Italy this July. The new lineup features a talented group of musicians, including Kevin Sierzega on lead vocals, Dan Panic on drums and backing vocals, Zac Damon on guitar and vocals, Flav Giorgini on guitar, and Mass Giorgini on bass. The anticipation for their performance is high, and fans can get a taste of the band’s new sound with their latest single.

With an impressive lineup and a powerful, emotionally charged song like “Sunflowers,” Squirtgun is poised to make a significant impact in the music scene once again. Fans of the band can look forward to experiencing their legendary sound with a fresh twist at the Punk Rock Raduno event. The band’s unique blend of punk rock with a heartfelt narrative promises an unforgettable musical experience for all attendees.

As the music world eagerly awaits the return of Squirtgun, the release of “Sunflowers” serves as a poignant reminder of the band’s enduring legacy and their ability to connect with audiences on a deep, emotional level.
