Deftones were set to showcase their unique alt-metal sound at this year’s Glastonbury Festival but had to cancel due to unspecified health issues within the band. The Californian veterans were scheduled to take the stage at Worthy Farm in Pilton, Somerset, England, but the band announced their absence just before the show via Instagram Stories.

Expressing their disappointment, Deftones stated, “In an unfortunate development, an illness in the band is going to prevent us from playing Glastonbury tonight. We’re devastated to be missing out on something we’ve been looking forward to for months, but sometimes circumstances beyond our control interfere with our plans.” Despite missing the Glastonbury performance, the band expressed hope of returning to the festival soon and assured fans that they were planning to perform at Crystal Palace the following day.

Although the cancellation was a setback, Deftones are still scheduled to headline at Crystal Palace Park in London on Saturday, June 29, pending no further complications. Following their shows in the U.K., the band is gearing up for the North American leg of their 2025 tour, commencing on August 22 at Rogers Arena in Vancouver, British Columbia. The tour includes stops at various major arenas in the U.S. and Canada, such as Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse in Cleveland on September 10 and Denver’s Ball Arena on September 15, before concluding at T-Mobile Center in Kansas City, Missouri on September 17.

Phantogram and Idles will join Deftones on select dates during the North American tour, while The Barbarians of California will be the opening act for all shows. The band is looking forward to showcasing their music to their fans across the continent despite the recent setback in their festival schedule.

Reeder, the mastermind behind Metal Addicts, has channeled his unwavering passion for metal into creating a vibrant online community for metal enthusiasts. With a particular affinity for black metal, Reeder is drawn to its ominous, moody, and often unconventional musical landscapes.

Although Deftones’ fans were disappointed by the cancellation of their Glastonbury appearance, they can look forward to catching the band on their upcoming North American tour and experiencing their electrifying performances alongside Phantogram and Idles.
