New video board at Bishop Stadium provides opportunities for aspiring video producers
Manhattan High School recently underwent a technological transformation with the addition of a video board and upgraded sound system at Bishop Stadium. This advancement was spearheaded by parents, Mitch Watson and Shawn Becket, who recognized the subpar sound quality during football games and resolved to address the issue.
Several years ago, Watson and Becket observed the inadequate sound quality at Friday night football games and were particularly struck by the dance team’s need to cart out speakers at halftime to perform. Watson noted, “The sound quality was really poor, and it was embarrassing that we didn’t have a better system in place.” Motivated by this realization, they took it upon themselves to make improvements to enhance the overall experience for attendees.
The fruition of their efforts manifested in the form of a new Daktronics video board situated at the south end of the Bishop Stadium in CiCo Park, significantly altering the landscape of sporting events hosted by Manhattan High School. This project was made possible through the generous contributions of private donors who aided in funding the endeavor. The stadium, where the track and field, football, and soccer teams convene for competitions, has now been elevated with state-of-the-art audiovisual technology.
The inclusion of this cutting-edge video board opens up a world of opportunities, particularly for young video producers. Students at Manhattan High School now have the chance to engage in media production and broadcasting, enabling them to hone their skills while contributing to the electrifying atmosphere of athletic events. With the new sound system and video board in place, the overall ambiance of matches and performances is expected to be greatly enhanced, offering an immersive and engaging experience for spectators and participants alike.
The installation of the video board and sound system represents a significant technological leap for Manhattan High School athletics. The collaborative efforts of dedicated parents and the support of generous donors have materialized in a tangible upgrade that promises to elevate the sporting experience for all involved. As the community eagerly anticipates the upcoming events at Bishop Stadium, the transformative impact of these enhancements is poised to resonate throughout Manhattan High School and beyond.
