MAYHEM Crafting New Album
Mayhem, the legendary Norwegian black metal band, has officially started working on their next album, marking their return since the 2019 release of Daemon. Guitarist Teloch, who has played a significant role in shaping the band’s creative direction in the past decade, recently provided fans with a brief update through social media, mentioning that the writing and pre-production processes are well underway. Teloch’s message read, “My excuse for not being active on here for the last months: Working on the new Mayhem. I need to focus. My brain is fried. Guitars, bass, drum beats, vocal guides, effects, synths yadayada.”
Despite the anticipation for their upcoming album, Mayhem has kept busy with other releases to keep fans engaged. In 2021, they put out Atavistic Black Disorder / Kommando, an EP containing unreleased tracks from the Daemon sessions and punk covers of bands like Discharge, Dead Kennedys, and the Ramones. Two years later in 2023, the band dropped Daemonic Rites, a live album featuring performances from their tours spanning from 2019 to 2022. This live album included tracks from Daemon as well as classics from their earlier repertoire to give fans a well-rounded listening experience while they await new material.
While fans eagerly anticipate the release of Mayhem’s upcoming album, they can still catch the band live at a few remaining shows in August. The band has performances scheduled at various metal festivals and venues across Europe, including the Vagos Metal Fest in Portugal, Brutal Assault in the Czech Republic, Progresja in Poland, Midgardsblot Metal Festival in Norway, and Parksnäckan in Sweden. These shows will offer fans a chance to experience Mayhem’s electrifying and intense live performances while waiting for the new album.
