Backstreet Boys member AJ McLean recently shared insights into the band’s upcoming residency in Las Vegas. McLean, who was known as the bad boy of the pop group in the late 1990s, now at 47, is looking to buy a place in Las Vegas due to the recent exodus from Los Angeles, citing taxes as a major factor. Additionally, having family in town adds to the appeal of moving to Las Vegas for McLean.

The Backstreet Boys are set to kick off a six-week residency at the Sphere, a cutting-edge orb-shaped venue that has previously hosted renowned acts such as U2, Phish, and Dead & Company. McLean mentioned the challenging schedule they face at the $2-billion venue, with late-night rehearsals and production starting after screenings of exclusive films.

This is not the first time the Backstreet Boys have performed in Vegas, as they previously had a residency at Planet Hollywood in 2017, which lasted for two years. The upcoming residency is in celebration of the 25th anniversary of their 1999 album “Millennium,” featuring hits like “I Want It That Way.” A deluxe reissue of the album will be released along with new material.

The residency comes at a time when band member Nick Carter is facing allegations of sexual assault from multiple women, which he has denied. McLean addressed the situation by stating that they stand by Carter amidst the allegations.

As they gear up for their residency, McLean shared his thoughts on the technicalities of the venue’s name, clarifying that it is Sphere Las Vegas. He emphasized the excitement and anticipation surrounding their return to Vegas and the significance of celebrating their iconic album’s milestone. Despite the challenges and controversies surrounding the band, McLean’s dedication and focus remain on delivering a memorable and thrilling performance for their fans at the Sphere.
