The Forest Park Bandshell in Woodhaven, NY, will once again resonate with the thunderous sounds of rock and roll as the eighth annual Queens RockFest (QRF) returns on July 12. This music event promises a day filled with roaring riffs and valiant vocals that will captivate rock and metal fans from Queens and beyond.

Organized by George Wasek, the QRF producer and drummer of the Manhattan-based band Channeling Owen, the event boasts a lineup of seven top-tier rock bands from the Queens scene. Bands like Broken Nails, enTrance, Terror Garden, and Love Conquers All will take the stage, with the main headliner being Red Hot, an all-female Mötley Crüe tribute band known for their electrifying performances that have wowed audiences nationwide.

In addition to the stellar musical performances, attendees can enjoy NYC-style hot dogs from Maspit Dogs, a popular hot dog vendor hailing from Maspeth. The event will also feature prize giveaways and band merchandise available for purchase throughout the day. Notably, all monetary proceeds from the event will support the Wounded Warriors Project, a noble cause dedicated to assisting and empowering veterans.

Sponsored by Assembly Member Jenifer Rajkumar, Don Tequila Urban Cantina, Grandview Tattoo, and the Disturbed and Confused Podcast, Queens RockFest is more than just a music festival. It serves as a platform for fostering neighborhood camaraderie, embodying the communal spirit of rock and roll and bringing the community together in celebration.

The idea behind Queens RockFest originated from Wasek’s own passion for playing music in public settings and his recognition of the struggles faced by independent musicians. With almost four decades of experience as a professional instrumentalist, Wasek understands the challenges musicians encounter in finding venues that support their craft, whether they perform original compositions or cover songs.

Seeking to provide a space for local bands in NYC to showcase their talent, Queens RockFest is Wasek’s way of offering exposure and opportunities for musicians to connect with audiences. The festival’s success and positive reception have fueled Wasek’s determination to make Queens RockFest an annual event, nurturing a supportive environment for musicians to develop their skills and share their passion for music.

Each year, Queens RockFest brings together music lovers, bands, and supporters to create a vibrant and energetic atmosphere where the sounds of rock and roll reign supreme. With a lineup of talented bands, delicious food, and a commitment to giving back to the community, Queens RockFest promises a day of unforgettable performances and shared experiences that celebrate the power of music to unite and uplift all who attend.
