New management aims to bring stylish and attractive atmosphere to popular café and bar in Cambridgeshire
The Taproom in St Ives, a popular café and bar in Cambridgeshire, has recently undergone a change in management. The new directors of the venue aim to create a sense of community and connection among its patrons. Robin Mackney, one of the directors, expressed his desire to maintain the Taproom’s legacy as a cornerstone of St Ives while introducing renovations and an enhanced menu.
To elevate the culinary experience at the Taproom, the new management has enlisted the expertise of a talented head chef, James Heffer, who brings a wealth of experience from establishments like the River Terrace and Whiskey Café. The focus will be on utilizing locally sourced ingredients to create seasonal menus that cater to breakfast, brunch, and lunch crowds. Additionally, on Fridays and Saturdays, the Taproom will offer a selection of small plates in the evenings, including dishes such as French toast with custard and their unique take on a full English breakfast, paired with coffee sourced from the Brew Project.
In line with their vision of fostering a sense of community, the Taproom plans to host a variety of community-focused events to provide a welcoming environment where individuals can feel a sense of belonging. By enhancing their brewery system and offering premium selections of lager, draught beer, and wines by the glass, the Taproom aims to cultivate a chic and sophisticated ambiance in the evenings.
Looking towards the future, the directors aspire to reintroduce a sense of wholesomeness and significance to the community through the Taproom. They aim to position the venue as an experience rather than merely a convenience, emphasizing quality service and a wide array of premium drinks, including coffee, wine, and cocktails. With the Taproom having played a role in connecting people through relationships, friendships, and even marriages, Mr. Mackney plans to enhance its impact on patrons’ lives once again.
Located at 23 Bridge Street in St Ives, the Taproom operates from 9 am to 8 pm on Mondays and Sundays, 9 am to 10 pm on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, 9 am to 11 pm on Thursdays, and 9 am to 1 am on Fridays and Saturdays. The new management’s commitment to creating a thriving community hub with a focus on quality service and premium offerings sets the stage for an exciting chapter in the Taproom’s legacy.
