Former Bon Jovi guitarist Richie Sambora recently released a new single titled “Born to Rock” despite his recent hand injury. The track, which serves as a celebration of the enduring spirit of rock ‘n’ roll, was previewed by Sambora on July 11. According to Sambora, the song is intended to be a fun and uplifting anthem for those who are passionate about rock music.

This release comes after Sambora fractured his hand while playing touch football in his home state of New Jersey. The injury was significant enough to prevent him from playing the guitar at the Unbridled Eve Derby Gala on May 2, which took place on the eve of the Kentucky Derby in Louisville. At the event, Sambora performed classic Bon Jovi songs that he had co-written, including the iconic “Livin’ on a Prayer.”

Despite his injury, Sambora has continued to remain active in the music scene. He was featured in Hulu’s four-part documentary series titled “Thank You, Goodnight: The Bon Jovi Story,” which premiered in April 2024. In addition to his documentary appearance, Sambora has released several new singles this year, showcasing his ongoing dedication to creating music.

Earlier in the year, the band Bon Jovi, from which Sambora departed in 2013, performed a rare show at the Marathon Music Works in Nashville. The show was part of a fan club package offered by Runway Tours, giving fans a unique opportunity to see the band live. Frontman Jon Bon Jovi, however, has faced challenges due to atrophied vocal cords, which have prevented him from touring for the past three years. Despite this setback, Jon Bon Jovi underwent a surgical procedure known as medialization to provide support to his vocal cords, allowing him to continue making music.

Sambora’s determination to release new music, despite his recent injury, is a testament to his unwavering commitment to rock ‘n’ roll. The release of “Born to Rock” serves as a reminder of his passion for music, and fans can enjoy the uplifting energy of this new anthem as they appreciate Sambora’s enduring legacy in the music industry.
