US President Donald Trump expressed outrage on social media platform Truth Social following an incident where an off-duty US Customs and Border Protection officer was shot by an illegal immigrant. Trump criticized the Biden administration for allowing the shooter to remain in the country despite being apprehended in April 2023.

In a post, Trump condemned the incident, stating that the CBP officer was shot in the face by what he referred to as an “Illegal Alien Monster” who had been released into the country under the current administration. He highlighted the bravery of the officer for fighting off his attacker despite sustaining serious injuries to his face and forearm.

Trump went on to blame the Democratic Party for the incident, accusing them of flooding the country with criminal invaders. He called for the immediate deportation or prosecution of such individuals to prevent similar incidents from occurring in the future.

According to reports from the New York Post, the off-duty officer managed to shoot the suspect, later identified as Miguel Francisco Mora Nunez, a 21-year-old Dominican national with a history of criminal offenses in New York. Despite having a deportation order, Nunez had been released each time he was arrested.

The incident has once again reignited the debate on immigration policies and border security in the United States. Critics have pointed to cases like this as evidence of the need for stricter immigration enforcement and a more robust deportation process for individuals with criminal backgrounds.

The shooting of the CBP officer serves as a reminder of the risks faced by law enforcement officials, both on and off duty. It underscores the importance of addressing gaps in the immigration system that allow individuals with criminal histories to remain in the country unchecked.

As investigations into the incident continue, advocates on both sides of the immigration debate are likely to use it as a focal point to push for changes to existing policies. The response to this incident could shape future discussions on border security and immigration reform in the United States.
