Alejandra Guzmán delays Brilla Tour due to emergency surgery

Alejandra Guzmán, the treasured figure in Mexican rock music, recently revealed to her devoted fans that she has had to reschedule all of her highly anticipated Brilla Tour concerts from 2025 to 2026. This unforeseen decision was a result of a surgical procedure she underwent following her electrifying performance in Monterrey on July 18th.

In a heartfelt statement, Guzmán expressed the difficulty of this choice but emphasized its necessity to guarantee that when she returns to the stage, she can do so with the vigor, dedication, and excellence that her audience deserves. Overflowing with gratitude and optimism, she also hinted at an upcoming release of a new song, crafted with immense care, as a token of appreciation to her unwavering supporters.

While this latest surgical intervention may come as a surprise to many, it is not the first time the iconic singer has faced health challenges. Since her ill-fated decision to undergo a buttocks augmentation with biopolymers in 2009, Guzmán has embarked on a prolonged battle against the resultant infections, skin necrosis, and physical and emotional agony. Over the years, she has undergone an estimated 40 surgeries to extract the toxic material from her body, with remnants of the polymers still present today.

As if grappling with the repercussions of the botched augmentation wasn’t arduous enough, Guzmán has also had to contend with the deterioration of her bone structure. In 2013 and 2016, she received titanium prostheses in both hips due to damage caused by a combination of normal wear and tear and the invasive biopolymers. Despite these adversities, she continued to grace the stage with her signature energy and moves until a fall during a performance in 2022 led to a hip prosthesis dislocation, triggering radicular compression syndrome in her lower back.

Following the recent concert in Monterrey, details surrounding Guzmán’s emergency surgery remain undisclosed, prompting speculation that it may be related to her previous hip or spinal issues. Notably, she had undergone surgery in May to address an irregular synovial cyst in her hand. Upon her return from surgery, medical advice mandated complete rest and the suspension of all physical activities for an extended period.

While fans may feel disappointed by the postponement of the 2025 tour dates, there is a profound understanding and affection for Guzmán’s well-being. The rocker herself draws strength from the support of her fans, pledging to return in 2026 with renewed resilience and determination. Existing ticket holders can rest assured that their tickets will be valid for the rescheduled dates, to be announced soon. Alternatively, refunds are available for those who prefer.

Through her enduring passion for music and her unyielding spirit, Alejandra Guzmán exemplifies the essence of a true rock icon. Despite facing formidable challenges, she remains undeterred in her pursuit of connecting with her audience through music. As she navigates this latest health setback, Guzmán serves as a poignant reminder that self-care and resilience are essential components of shining brightly in one’s craft.
