Big news has come for Spider-Man fans as The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed some exciting casting updates for the upcoming sequel, Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Mark Ruffalo is reportedly set to reprise his role as Bruce Banner, also known as The Hulk, in the highly anticipated film. Joining him is Michael Mando, who is set to finally take on the role of Mac Gargan, aka The Scorpion.

While rumors of Ruffalo’s return had been circulating, it was only recently that the script fell into place as production for the movie is slated to kick off later this month in England. Mando, who previously appeared in 2017’s Spider-Man: Homecoming as Mac Gargan, will now have the chance to fully embody The Scorpion in the new film.

Although specific plot details have been kept under wraps, the film is said to feature an ambitious storyline that brings together fan-favorite characters Spider-Man, The Hulk, and The Punisher. Interestingly, The Punisher, who made his debut in The Amazing Spider-Man comic in 1974, will be making his cinematic debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe through this movie, after appearing in various other Marvel shows and series.

The stellar cast also includes Tom Holland as Peter Parker/Spider-Man and Jon Berthal as The Punisher/Frank Castle, with Destin Daniel Cretton directing the film based on a script by Erik Sommers and Chris McKenna, known for their work on Spider-Man: No Way Home. Sony Pictures has also released a sneak peek video showcasing Tom Holland in his new Spider-Man suit for the film.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day, featuring Mark Ruffalo’s return as The Hulk and an ensemble of talented actors, is scheduled to swing into theaters on July 31, 2026. Fans can look forward to an exciting and action-packed adventure as these iconic characters come together on the big screen.
