AFI embraces gothic sound on latest album ‘Silver Bleeds the Black Sun’ (listen to a track)
AFI has announced the release of their new album, “Silver Bleeds the Black Sun,” which takes a more gothic approach compared to their previous works. The lead single, “Behind the Clock,” takes a clear nod to the band’s ’80s goth influences while toning down their punk rock roots. The band aimed to create a cohesive and dreamy album that delves deep into their musical influences. With this being their twelfth album, AFI has signed with Run For Cover to release the LP on October 3. The music video for “Behind the Clock” was directed by Gilbert Trejo, providing a unique perspective on the song’s themes. Trejo wanted the video to feel like a peek into a hidden world, mirroring the openness and vulnerability present in Davey Havok’s lyrics. The collaboration with Trejo brought a fresh and inspiring visual interpretation to the track, with Havok expressing his admiration for Trejo’s artistic vision and expertise.
The tracklist for “Silver Bleeds the Black Sun” includes songs like “The Bird of Prey,” “Blasphemy & Excess,” and “A World Unmade,” reflecting the album’s dark and brooding themes. AFI will hit the road with TR/ST for a tour beginning on September 30 in Madison, WI, with a show scheduled for October 15 at Brooklyn Paramount.
The tour will also stop in cities like Detroit, Chicago, Boston, Philadelphia, and Atlanta, among others, giving fans across the country a chance to experience AFI’s new goth-inspired sound live. With a total of 26 tour dates lined up, AFI promises an atmospheric and immersive concert experience for their dedicated fan base.
