Agoda, a digital travel platform, has unveiled a list of the most popular destinations in Asia for revisits, with Seoul ranking third on the list. The trend of revisiting familiar destinations in a quest for new experiences or to relive past memories is gaining popularity among travelers. Agoda’s analysis of user data from the first half of this year identified Seoul as one of the top ten revisited destinations in Asia. The list was topped by Bangkok, followed by Tokyo, Seoul, Bali, and Osaka.
The appeal of these cities lies in their diverse offerings, ranging from culinary delights to cultural experiences, ensuring that visitors can discover something new on each visit. Seoul, in particular, stands out as a hub of rapidly evolving K-culture and boasts a high rate of repeat visits. The city attracts Hallyu fans from around the globe, thanks to its abundance of pop culture experiences, including K-pop concerts, fan events, and popular K-drama filming locations.
Major shopping districts like Myeong-dong are brimming with beauty clinics, spas, and trendy boutiques, reflecting the latest beauty trends. The increasing number of repeat travelers to Seoul is driven by a growing demand for beauty and wellness experiences. Apart from Seoul, other domestic destinations like Busan, Jeju, Incheon, and Daegu have also been identified as popular choices for revisits. Incheon, in particular, is gaining popularity as a multifaceted tourist destination that combines nature and culture.
Travelers can not only explore over 40 attractions on an ‘Irish Hopping Tour’ but also partake in leading music festivals such as the Asian Pop Festival and the Incheon Pentaport Rock Festival. Daegu, known as a culinary hotspot with unique local flavors, has become a magnet for repeat visitors. The Seomun Market, the largest traditional market in the country, offers a wide array of street food options.
According to Lee Joon-hwan, the head of Agoda’s Korean branch, modern travelers prefer revisiting the same destination multiple times to delve deeper into the local culture and experiences. Agoda aims to cater to these evolving travel trends by providing a range of benefits and activities for travelers to customize their trips. The platform offers access to over 6 million hotels, vacation accommodations, 130,000 air routes, and 300,000 activities, enabling travelers to plan their Nth trip or discover new destinations seamlessly.
