IN VERTIGO – Prevail in Metalheads Forever Magazine
IN/VERTIGO, a rock band hailing from Calgary, Canada, came together in 2016, formed by a group of experienced musicians. Known for their high-energy live performances, the band has quickly gained recognition in western Canada, having shared the stage with well-known acts such as Buckcherry, Steel Panther, Bret Michaels, Bif Naked, Diamond Head, and Pop Evil. Following the release of a demo and their EP ‘Sex Love & Chaos,’ “Prevail” marks the band’s second EP.
The EP kicks off with the powerful rock anthem “Weathervane,” showcasing Reed Alton’s charismatic vocals and explosive guitar riffs punctuated by a blistering guitar solo. “Save Me” picks up the pace with its high-energy tempo, driven by dynamic drumming and wild guitar work. The track retains the band’s signature intensity, leading into the more subdued and rhythmically structured “Liar,” where Alton’s vocals take on a mellower tone at times, contrasted by another impressive guitar solo. Closing off the EP is “Euphoria,” capturing a live atmosphere with sounds of cheering fans at the beginning and end, offering a more rhythmic and invitingly melodic track that stands out as a favorite among listeners.
With “Prevail,” IN/VERTIGO delivers a solid offering of hard rock music, showcasing their versatile sound across four diverse tracks. The EP is expertly produced, capturing the raw energy that the band exudes during their live performances. However, one potential drawback of the EP is its relatively short duration, clocking in at just thirteen minutes.
Featuring a lineup consisting of Reed Alton on lead vocals and percussion, Shaddy Elsaghir on lead and rhythm guitars, Duncan McCartney on bass and backing vocals, Carter Bews on drums, percussion, and backing vocals, and Brandon Haddow on rhythm guitars, IN/VERTIGO presents a cohesive collective of talented musicians.
“Prevail” stands as a testament to the band’s musical prowess and ability to craft engaging and impactful rock music. Each track on the EP brings something unique to the table, showcasing the band’s dynamic range and high-octane performance style. For fans of hard rock and passionate, electrifying music, IN/VERTIGO’s “Prevail” is a must-listen experience that offers a glimpse into the band’s raw talent and creative vision.
