R&B sensation Mary Ann Alexander has been making waves on the global music scene, breaking barriers and collaborating with industry legends. Recently, she participated in the Jameson Distilled Sounds 2025 in Ireland, curated by Anderson .Paak, a renowned rapper, singer-songwriter, and producer. This exclusive collaborative project brought together 20 artists from around the world to create, write, and perform music. Alexander fondly recalled her time in Ireland, filled with mentorship sessions, picturesque countryside views, and impromptu Irish dance sessions with her fellow participants.

Despite the creative challenges set by .Paak, which included remixing his track “Come Home” in various genres, Alexander thrived under pressure. Her group drew inspiration from pop-punk queen Avril Lavigne, leading her to explore new musical styles and embrace a more diverse approach to her artistry. Through this experience, she realized the importance of having fun while creating music, as it brings out her best work.

Beyond the music, Alexander built connections with artists from diverse backgrounds, learning about their career paths and sharing experiences about life in their respective countries. This cultural exchange left a lasting impact on her, emphasizing the value of connecting with people from different demographics.

Following her time in Ireland, Alexander made history as the first Indian female musician to feature in DJ AG’s session series in the UK. This platform, known for hosting esteemed artists like Burna Boy and Ed Sheeran, allowed Alexander to showcase her talent to a broader audience. The positive reactions from the live audience and online viewers further motivated her to continue pushing boundaries in her music.

Shortly after her UK appearance, Alexander achieved another milestone by collaborating with British R&B icon Craig David and Nigerian singer-producer Tiwa Savage on the track “Commitments Pt 4” for the remix album Commitment & Rain Vibes. Working with David was a surreal experience for Alexander, who admired his talent and humble nature. This collaboration provided her with a platform to infuse her unique twist into an afrobeat-heavy track, showcasing her versatility and artistry on a global scale.

As her career continues to ascend on the international stage, Alexander remains grounded in her roots, emphasizing the importance of merging her Indian heritage with global influences in her music. She sees her music as a reflection of herself, blurring the lines between the international and the local. For Alexander, it’s all about creating music that resonates with audiences worldwide while staying true to her identity as an artist.
