Dando’s charming smile and laid-back vocal style makes the chaos that often ensues at their shows seem minimal. And, since they’re celebrating the upcoming release of a new album, it’s a good bet that Dando’s winning ways will shine through. This promises to be one of those intimate gigs where long-time fans have the opportunity to sing along with every song, whether they’re diving through the band’s history with old hits like “It’s a Shame About Ray” or enjoying new material. When things are rocking, her clear, strong voice soars above the music, while, when things are mellower, the beauty of her songs gets a chance to sink in. Case’s new album, currently in full rotation on radio stations everywhere, is “Night Drawer.” Her standalone concerts are always magical, primarily because her tales are about everything from lilacs to ladies to lighthouses. And even if the essence of her songs occasionally wraps around some deep, dark topics, the overlying effect is mesmerizing. But seeing him perform live tells a different story. Legend has got a stage presence as big as his voice. And, while he can easily have the audience swaying along with something lovely like “All of Me,” as the show progresses, he plays surprise after surprise, showing off his skillful playing and high-energy delivery.
