Korea Music Label Industry Association runs The Kindy Lounge
The Kindy Lounge, organized by the Korea Music Label Industry Association (Murehyup), has recently introduced four new episodes that are filled with emotions characteristic of August. Each work explores different themes, such as the lingering effects of separation, honest self-reflection, intense concepts, and local emotions, providing a rich tapestry of musical expression as the summer comes to a close.
On August 6, singer-songwriter Chanmin from Sugar Records released a single titled “Drop.” This song delves into feelings of weightlessness and the emptiness experienced during moments of separation. Chanmin was directly involved in the writing, composing, and production of the track, adding a personal touch to the final product. The lyrics of “Drop” convey a sense of fleeting hope and introspection, while dreamy guitars and vibrant sound textures create an immersive sonic experience.
Following suit, on August 7, singer-songwriter Park So-eun unveiled her EP titled ‘B-list Media.’ This album captures the raw and unfiltered essence of self-expression, embracing a “B-class” sensibility that revels in imperfection. Despite its flaws, the music on ‘B-list Media’ manages to encapsulate genuine moments in life with sincerity and self-assurance.
August 8 saw the release of a double single titled “soujet sound” by the band South Carnival from Ruby Records. This project offers a contemporary reinterpretation of Jeju folk songs, blending elements of Afrobeat with local Jeju sounds to create a fusion of global and local influences. The band gained international recognition by performing at Japan’s Fuji Rock Festival and the Radical Music Network 2025.
On August 12, the MPG Music band Touchd made a comeback after a two-year hiatus with their EP ‘Red Signal.’ Each of the five songs on the album symbolizes a different “danger signal,” weaving together a narrative of tension, warning, temptation, memories, and emotional growth. With intense soundscapes and a cohesive concept, ‘Red Signal’ showcases the distinctive musical identity of Touchd.
Additionally, the Korea Music Label Industry Association (Murehyup) announced the second lineup for “La Laon,” a support project for small-scale popular music performances. The “2025 La La Laon” project will feature 53 concert halls and 157 artists, offering a diverse range of musical genres and styles to audiences across the country. Running until November 14, this initiative aims to bring music lovers closer to their favorite artists and genres through intimate performances at smaller venues.
