MONSTA X has unveiled their latest EP, THE X, marking their first mini-album release in four years. The K-pop group’s return comes on the heels of their 10th anniversary, showcasing their versatility and talent on a global stage.

Consisting of members Shownu, Minhyuk, Kihyun, Hyungwon, Joohoney, and I.M, MONSTA X has weathered individual experiences such as military enlistments, solo projects, and sub-unit activities over the years. With the recent discharge of Hyungwon and I.M’s impending enlistment, the group has come together once again for THE X.

THE X features a diverse range of tracks that blend various genres including trap, synth-pop, and R&B. Led by the energetic single “N the Front,” the EP delivers lyrics centered on themes of resilience, ambition, and self-expression. Preceded by the release of “Do What I Want,” MONSTA X set the tone for the album with its bold energy and polished production.

The album also includes deeper cuts like “Fire & Ice” and “Catch Me Now,” highlighting the group’s vocal prowess and emotional depth. Members Joohoney, Hyungwon, and I.M contributed to the songwriting and production, infusing personal touches into the project. Tracks like “Tuscan Leather” showcase a moody, bass-heavy sound that merges introspection with confidence, reflecting the group’s growth and artistry.

To celebrate the release of THE X, MONSTA X hosted a live-streamed comeback special and wrapped up their CONNECT X anniversary concert series in Seoul and Tokyo, captivating fans with their long-awaited reunion. The group’s return to the stage after four years was met with enthusiasm, as they performed three shows at Seoul’s KSPO Dome in July.

After teasing more upcoming band activities, MONSTA X announced the release of THE X on September 1. Members Hyungwon and Shownu assured fans that despite individual experiences, their teamwork and camaraderie remain unchanged. Hyungwon remarked on the group’s continued passion for practice and shared humor, noting that their visuals have evolved but maintained their signature allure.

In honor of their decade as a group, MONSTA X released the digital album “Now Project vol. 1” in May, featuring re-recorded tracks to highlight Shownu’s vocals while he served in the military. The group’s dedication to their craft and commitment to their artistry are evident in their latest release, reaffirming their status as influential figures in the K-pop landscape.

As MONSTA X continues to innovate and evolve, their latest EP, THE X, serves as a testament to their enduring talent and unwavering spirit. With a bold sound and heartfelt lyrics, the group showcases their growth and maturity while captivating audiences with their dynamic performances and genuine artistry.
