Popular Rock Singer Confirms Status of Band: Intact or Broken Up?
Beloved Rock Singer Opens Up About the State of Her Band
Hayley Williams, the iconic rock singer, has recently dropped her third solo album and has been reveling in the success it has garnered. Ego Death at a Bachelorette Party, a collection of self-released songs, was released on Aug. 28 and has been met with widespread critical acclaim. Amidst this solo triumph, fans are left wondering about the status of Paramore, the band that Williams co-founded.
Formed in 2004, a year after Williams signed a deal with Atlantic Records at the young age of 14, Paramore has had a storied career. Initially pegged by the label as a pop sensation, Williams steered the group towards the alternative rock genre where it found its footing. Their debut album, All We Know Is Falling, was released in 2005, and since then, Paramore has solidified its place as one of the most beloved bands in the punk/alt rock scene.
Through multiple lineup changes and lengthy gaps between albums, Paramore has persisted. With Williams’s solo endeavors in play, questions linger about the fate of the band. In a recent interview with The Face, Williams was asked directly about the status of Paramore. Her response shed light on the band’s penchant for taking extended breaks between projects.
Williams quipped, “Do we ever know where we’re at? We always take huge breaks. In order for us to metabolize [expletive] that we go through as people, it takes the amount of time it takes between albums.” Despite the hiatus, Williams was quick to reassure fans that Paramore is not broken up.
She lauded her bandmates Zac (drummer) and Taylor (guitarist) as unparalleled musicians while acknowledging the magic they create together. Williams expressed a sense of vindication at the fact that Paramore’s significance cannot be overlooked. She also revealed her initial hesitation towards her solo career, citing a need to strengthen aspects of herself that she had disregarded out of fear of excessive attention.
In addition to her recent album, Ego Death at a Bachelorette Party, Williams has made appearances on various projects throughout 2025, collaborating with artists like David Byrne, Jay Som, and Turnstile. Her contributions have been met with acclaim, adding another layer of versatility to her artistic repertoire.
As discussions surrounding Paramore’s future remain in the air, Williams’s unwavering commitment to both her band and her solo ventures showcase her multifaceted talents. The legacy of Paramore and the continued evolution of Hayley Williams paint a picture of an artist unafraid to explore new horizons while maintaining the roots of her musical journey.
