Gladys Knight, Chaka Khan, Patti LaBelle, and Stephanie Mills are set to unite on a tour stopping in Newark and Atlantic City. This event is featured in this compilation of significant arts events happening throughout New Jersey until September 25.
MUSIC
“The Queens! 4 Legends. 1 Stage” tour showcases performances by Gladys Knight, Patti LaBelle, Chaka Khan, and Stephanie Mills at Newark’s Prudential Center on September 25 and Atlantic City’s Boardwalk Hall on October 4.
“We will come together in support of one another and in harmony at a time when love is most needed,” mentioned Knight. Mills adds, “Our different styles unite in love, compassion, and understanding, and it’s essential to come together now.”
ELVIS COSTELLO
Elvis Costello will grace The Event Center at Borgata Hotel Casino and Spa in Atlantic City on September 19, 8 pm, during his “Radio Soul! The Early Songs of Elvis Costello” tour with The Imposters. The lineup includes keyboardist Steve Nieve, drummer Pete Thomas, bassist Davey Faragher, and guitarist Charlie Sexton, who will play songs from Costello’s formative years as a recording artist.
Costello stated, “You can expect the unexpected and the faithful in equal measure. Don’t forget this show is ‘Performed by Elvis Costello & The Imposters,’ an ensemble which includes three people who first recorded this music and two more who bring something entirely new.”
STEVE WINWOOD
Steve Winwood, a Rock and Roll Hall of Famer, will perform at various venues, including The Count Basie Center for the Arts in Red Bank, The Mayo Performing Arts Center in Morristown, and The Hard Rock Live at Etess Arena at The Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Atlantic City, all set for 8 pm.

Rosanne Cash and John Leventhal will showcase their performances at The Outpost in the Burbs at The First Congregational Church in Montclair on September 19 at 8 p.m. with Leventhal, Cash’s husband and working partner since 1993. They recently launched RumbleStrip Records.
CIMAFUNK
Cuban-born Cimafunk will be at The South Orange Performing Arts Center on September 19 at 7:30 p.m. and was nominated in the Grammy’s Best Latin Rock or Alternative Album category in 2023 for his album El Alimento.
BASEBALL PROJECT
The Baseball Project will take audiences down memory lane with baseball-themed songs at White Eagle Hall in Jersey City on September 21 at 8 p.m. featuring band members of R.E.M., The Dream Syndicate, Young Fresh Fellows, and The Minus 5.
SWINGADELIC
Swingadelic, accompanied by singer Vanessa Perea, will touch on “The Three Louies” (Armstrong, Jordan, and Prima) at The Grunin Center for the Arts at Ocean County College, Toms River, on September 21 at 3 p.m.
PRINCETON FOLK MUSIC SOCIETY
The Princeton Folk Music Society offers The Ebony Hillbillies at Christ Congregation Church in Princeton on September 19 at 8 p.m. featuring a blend of pop, country, bluegrass, folk, and jazz by the acclaimed New York-based group.
FAIRIES WEAR BOOTS
Fairies Wear Boots, led by singer Emily Grove and a mix of other New Jersey bands’ members, will showcase the music of Ozzy Osbourne and Black Sabbath at The Stone Pony in Asbury Park, September 19 at 7:15 p.m. with other supporting acts.
