Nine Inch Nails has finally released the highly anticipated soundtrack for Tron: Ares, and it seems that the music has created more buzz among fans than the upcoming film starring Jared Leto. The 24-track album is now available for streaming on the band’s official YouTube channel, and Disney unveiled a new featurette to accompany the release.

This featurette showcases the impressive musical history of the Tron franchise. Tron has always been a breeding ground for groundbreaking sound, starting with Wendy Carlos’ pioneering work on the original 1982 film and Daft Punk’s iconic score for Tron: Legacy. Now, with Tron: Ares, the musical legacy continues with Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross taking the reins. The returning star Jeff Bridges encapsulated the sentiment best when he simply exclaimed, “Nine Inch Nails, man.”

Bridges’ excitement is echoed by his co-stars Leto and Greta Lee, both praising Reznor and Ross for infusing their unique industrial rock style into the Grid. Director Joachim Rønning also expressed his admiration for the score, revealing that he listened to it while working on the film and often felt like he was levitating out of his chair.

The press release underlines the impressive awards history of the duo, including two Oscars, three Golden Globes, multiple Grammys, and an Emmy. However, beyond the accolades, this album feels like a natural extension of Nine Inch Nails’ sound. Fans will recognize elements from previous albums such as Ghosts, Hesitation Marks, and Bad Witch, with heavy synths, atmospheric layers, and bursts of intense energy.

While predominantly instrumental, the album features three tracks with vocals, striking a balance between cinematic soundscapes and classic Nine Inch Nails intensity. Clocking in at one hour and seven minutes, the soundtrack promises to deliver an immersive listening experience that can pump you up.

Similar to their iconic work on the Quake soundtrack in 1996, this album stands out as a complete Nine Inch Nails release. Fans can look forward to experiencing this music paired with the visual spectacle of Tron: Ares when the film hits theaters on October 10. In the meantime, the soundtrack alone will suffice to transport you to the electrifying world of the Grid.
