Photographer Jim Marshall’s iconic black-and-white image of Johnny Cash clasping the hand of inmate Glen Sherley at Folsom Prison in 1968. Marshall’s timing and framing isolated the handshake as the defining gesture of the day in one of the most enduring pictures of Cash’s career.
