Vince Neil of Mötley Crüe admits to suffering from four strokes
During an interview on Trunk Nation With Eddie Trunk on SiriusXM, Mötley Crüe frontman Vince Neil openly discussed his recent health emergency, shedding light on the stroke he experienced last December and the challenging recovery process that ensued.
Neil described the incident occurring on Christmas night as he woke up unable to move his left leg or arm. Struggling with mobility, he needed help getting out of bed and had to gradually regain sensation and learn to walk again. Transitioning from a wheelchair to a walker to a cane, Neil faced uncertainty about his future mobility and his ability to perform on stage again. Despite doctors initially doubting his return to the stage, Neil’s resilient determination and rigorous efforts to recover paid off, enabling him to perform once more.
Following his stroke, Mötley Crüe postponed their Las Vegas residency and canceled a festival appearance as Neil underwent further medical evaluations. To his surprise, doctors revealed that he had experienced four strokes over the years, two of which he hadn’t even realized. One noticeable stroke resulted in temporary numbness in his hand, and the most recent was triggered by a blood clot traveling from his leg to his brain, leaving behind scars visible on brain scans.
Neil embarked on an extensive recovery journey involving rigorous physical therapy sessions both in professional facilities and at home, often working with a trainer used to assisting athletes. Despite admitting to challenges on stage due to his ongoing recovery, Neil expressed gratitude for nearing 95% recovery and for the opportunity to perform once more.
Initially keeping his stroke private, Neil later decided to share his health struggles with the public, choosing to disclose the truth in an interview. The news quickly garnered global attention, prompting Neil to reflect on the fragility of life and the strength found in resilience. While canceling shows was difficult, Neil emphasized the value and joy of being able to return to what he loves most: performing on stage.
Overall, Neil’s journey serves as a powerful reminder of the importance of perseverance, self-care, and the willingness to confront challenges head-on, demonstrating that setbacks can lead to comebacks with hard work and determination.
