GRIDFAILURE Releases New Video “Species Deconstructivist” and Preps Sixth Album
Gridfailure is gearing up for the release of its upcoming album titled Sixth Mass-Extinction Skulduggery III with the premiere of their latest single and video, “Species Deconstructivist.” The track includes contributions from various members of bands such as Today Is The Day, Les Chants Du Hasard, Secret Cutter, and Thetan. The accompanying video is described as a visually disturbing assault, featuring appearances from all eight guest collaborators who lent their talents to the track.
Mastermind behind Gridfailure, David Brenner, delves into the apocalyptic themes present in “Species Deconstructivist,” highlighting the consequences of human behavior on the natural world. Amidst environmental degradation and political chaos, the song serves as a grim reminder of the destructive path humanity is on. Brenner’s message is clear – humanity’s failure is reflected in Gridfailure’s music, offering listeners a haunting glimpse into the impending environmental collapse.
The album, Sixth Mass-Extinction Skulduggery III, scheduled for release on October 3, will be available digitally and as part of a limited cassette box set that includes all three Sixth Mass-Extinction Skulduggery albums. Produced by Nefarious Industries, pre-orders for the album, merchandise, and additional video singles are already accessible through various platforms. The third installment in the Skulduggery series follows Gridfailure’s previous releases, Survivor’s Remorse and As Resources Are Depleted So Are Morals, continuing the project’s narrative of impending doom and chaos.
Brenner spearheaded the majority of the album’s production, handling vocals, guitars, bass, drums, keys, violin, theremin, and incorporating found sounds. He also enlisted a diverse group of collaborators for the project, including veterans like Steve Austin from Today Is The Day and Leila Abdul-Rauf from Vastum and Ionophore. The album’s production took place at The Compound in Valley Cottage, NY, with mastering by Dan Emery at Black Matter Mastering in Nashville. Furthermore, Brenner was responsible for the album’s artwork, design, photography, and accompanying visual content.
Despite the heavy themes explored in Sixth Mass-Extinction Skulduggery III, Gridfailure looks ahead to future releases that promise to bring more horrors and artistic endeavors. Two additional chapters, Teeth Collection and Drought Stick, are set to conclude the conceptual cycle in the years to come, further solidifying Gridfailure’s reputation as an innovative and boundary-pushing musical project.
