Robert Plant has just unveiled “Saving Grace,” his latest album showcasing a new band of talented musicians. Together with vocalist Suzi Dian, drummer Oli Jefferson, guitarist Tony Kelsey, banjo and string player Matt Worley, and cellist Barney Morse-Brown, Plant’s newest release delves into the world of roots music, bridging the gap between vintage classics and modern sounds. The album features a diverse selection of tracks, from deep cuts by Memphis Minnie and Blind Willie Johnson to treasured gems by Bob Mosley of Moby Grape, Martha Scanlan, Mimi Parker, Alan Sparhawk’s Low, Sarah Siskind, The Low Anthem, an African American spiritual, and more. The New York Times hails “Saving Grace” as one of Fall’s Most Anticipated Albums, praising Plant and Dian for their harmonious vocals intertwined with the band’s blend of the blues, Celtic melodies, and Arabic influences.

Born out of a shared love for roots music, “Saving Grace” was inspired by Plant’s rustic home on the Welsh borderlands. The band, formed in 2019, bonded over their mutual admiration for a variety of genres, including blues, folk, gospel, and country, resulting in an organic and soulful collaboration that captures a range of emotions from mystery to melancholy. The album’s recording sessions took place in an informal barn setting and sometimes outdoors, weaving hypnotic grooves, Malian desert blues, and psychedelic folk into the mix.

After making a name for themselves in the UK and Europe, Robert Plant and Saving Grace are set to embark on their debut tour in the United States this fall. The tour includes stops in fifteen North American cities, such as Brooklyn Paramount, Capitol Theatre in Port Chester, The Vic in Chicago, and United Theater in Los Angeles, with Rosie Flores as support. Following their US tour, the band will return in 2026 for a headline performance at the Big Ears Festival, as well as a ten-date UK tour in December.

Critics have showered “Saving Grace” with praise, describing it as a refreshing return to Plant’s musical roots and a testament to the collective prowess of the band members. With a careful curation of influences from both sides of the Atlantic, the album showcases Plant’s personal touch while exploring a range of musical styles with precision and sophistication. Whether delivering spirituals, blues classics, or contemporary folk tunes, Plant and Saving Grace’s harmonious blend creates an intimate and captivating listening experience that transcends genres.

With their unique blend of blues, alt-country, and folk storytelling, Robert Plant and Saving Grace have crafted a sonic tapestry that pays homage to the roots of music while offering a fresh perspective on timeless classics. As Plant continues to evolve his musical legacy, “Saving Grace” stands as a testament to his unwavering dedication to artistic innovation and creativity.
