Canadian progressive rock icons Rush have surprised fans with news of their upcoming ‘Fifty Something’ North American tour set to kick off in 2026. This announcement came as a shock to many after the band officially retired back in 2015 following a farewell tour, made even more poignant by the devastating loss of their legendary drummer and lyricist, Neil Peart, in 2020.

While Peart’s passing seemed to signal the end of Rush as we knew it, vocalist, bassist, and keyboardist Geddy Lee and guitarist Alex Lifeson have now confirmed a return to the stage for a series of shows. Questions naturally arose about who would take over the drumming duties for this reunion, and the answer came in the form of Anika Nilles, a talented musician with a background in YouTube performances and industry recognition.

The upcoming tour, which has the full support of Peart’s family, will run from June 17th to September 17th and promises to be a celebration of Rush’s music spanning over five decades. Lee expressed his excitement for the tour, hinting at the possibility of additional musicians joining them on stage to enhance the sound and performance of the show.

Carrie Nuttall-Peart and Olivia Peart, Neil Peart’s widow and daughter, shared their enthusiasm for the tour, noting the lasting impact of Rush’s music and Neil Peart’s unique contributions as a drummer and lyricist. They expressed their eagerness to witness the band’s new chapter unfold and the opportunity to hear their legendary music performed live once more.

The band commemorated the tour announcement with a private event at the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame and a video announcement, setting the stage for the ‘Fifty Something Tour’ to be a memorable experience for fans. The tour will be presented as an ‘evening with’ event, featuring two unique sets each night with distinct setlists for each performance.

For fans eager to secure their tickets, a Rush Artist Presale will take place, allowing fans to sign up for early access to tickets through various ticketing sites. Additionally, Citi cardmembers and American Express members will have exclusive presale opportunities for select shows in the US and Canada.

With Anika Nilles on drums and the promise of a nostalgic yet innovative performance, Rush’s ‘Fifty Something’ tour is shaping up to be a must-see event for fans and music enthusiasts alike. The band’s decision to reunite and honor their legacy with a tribute to their storied career is sure to captivate audiences and reignite the magic of Rush’s music for a new generation of fans.
