The Cure has hinted at the release of a new album in early 2026, intended to complement their 2024 album, “Songs Of A Lost World.” Lead singer Robert Smith revealed that the upcoming album, still in the final stages of production, will be less gloomy than its predecessor but will still evoke deep emotional responses. Smith mentioned that despite a lighter tone overall, the album will include what he considers to be the saddest song of all their works.

The band’s upcoming album will feature a mix of brand-new material and songs that were tested live but ultimately left off “Songs Of A Lost World.” The sound of the new album is expected to showcase a variety of styles, diverging from their recent works. Following a successful debut of “Songs Of A Lost World” in London’s Troxy in November 2024, which was attended by guests like Green Day’s Billie Joe Armstrong and Radiohead’s Ed O’Brien, it is apparent that The Cure is gearing up for the release of their new album.

Despite previously swearing off booking new shows until new music was finished, The Cure’s upcoming tour in the UK and Ireland, scheduled for summer 2026, indicates that the album is nearing completion. The band is set to perform in cities like Dublin, Belfast, Manchester, and Edinburgh, in addition to headlining various music festivals across Europe, such as Rock En Seine, Primavera Sound, Nova Rock, and the Isle of Wight Festival. Their performance at the Øya Festival in Norway, where they will be the headline act for the opening night in Oslo on August 12, is highly anticipated following their energetic show at the same event in 2019. Fans can also look forward to seeing The Cure perform alongside Australian punk-rock band Amyl & The Sniffers at various shows during their tour.

As 2026 marks a potential 50th anniversary celebration for The Cure, the band has yet to reveal the album’s title or release date. Still, fans can expect another emotive and diverse collection of songs from this iconic group.
