Louisiana State Police has released new footage of the tragic car accident involving LSU football player Kyren Lacy. This new video appears to refute claims made by Lacy’s attorney that there was new evidence exonerating his client.

Lacy took his own life on April 12th as he was facing a case in connection with the December 17, 2024 incident that resulted in the death of 78-year-old Herman Hall. The recent video shared by authorities depicts Lacy driving on the wrong side of the road and overtaking several vehicles, including a large 18-wheeler, just moments before the sound of a collision can be heard.

“A green Dodge Charger is seen traveling south in the opposing lane on LA 20 at a high rate of speed, passing three passenger vehicles and one loaded 18-wheeler in a designated no passing zone with a 40 mph posted speed limit,” a narrator in the video described. Following this reckless driving, the video captures the moment of impact after aggressive braking and deceleration by Lacy.

The Louisiana State Police video aims to defend their handling of the case, with body camera footage showing a witness immediately pointing out a “green Charger” upon arrival at the scene. Another witness on the video stated that “a green Charger caused all of this.”

Moreover, despite prior reports indicating otherwise, the video narrated that the state police did not attribute the green Charger to any impacts on the involved vehicles post-incident. The evidence gathered, however, supports the conclusion that Lacy’s dangerous driving in the wrong lane instigated the events that led to the fatal crash involving other drivers.

Law enforcement authorities used over 20 surveillance videos to confirm Lacy as the driver during the incident. The release of this recent footage follows statements from Lacy’s attorney, Matt Ory, who previously shared a brief clip suggesting that the car was around 72 yards away from the accident scene. Ory argued that this evidence clears Lacy of any wrongdoing, claiming that he was back in his lane of travel, a significant distance behind the vehicles involved at the time of impact.

These developments surrounding the tragic car accident involving Kyren Lacy continue to be scrutinized, with conflicting accounts and interpretations of the events leading up to the fatal crash. Louisiana State Police’s video serves as a critical piece of evidence in shedding light on the circumstances surrounding the tragedy and the potential implications for the case moving forward.
