RADWIMPS release emotional album ‘Anew’ and heartfelt single ‘World End Girl’
Following a four-year hiatus, Japanese rock pioneers RADWIMPS have unveiled their much-anticipated album titled “Anew,” much to the delight of their dedicated fan base. This latest offering comprises 12 tracks, including 10 fresh compositions and familiar favorites such as “Tamamono,” the theme song for NHK’s drama series Anpan, and “Meidai,” the soundtrack for NTV’s news program “Zero.” The digital release of the album also boasts an exclusive bonus track called “DAI-DAN-EN feat. ZORN (Anew Version),” while the physical edition treats listeners to an orchestra rendition of “Tamamono.”
“Anew” represents a significant milestone for the band as they celebrate their 20th major debut anniversary, coinciding with the enchanting release of the music video for “World End Girl Friend.” Directed by Takeshi Maruyama and shot in Thailand, the video narrates a poignant love story centered around a young girl navigating the complexities of romance in a foreign country. To commemorate their anniversary, RADWIMPS has introduced a special 20th Anniversary Special Box edition of “Anew,” appealing to collectors and die-hard fans alike. This box set includes an array of exclusive content such as a studio performance from 29 June, behind-the-scenes footage, interviews, rare footage from their inaugural arena show at Yokohama Arena in August 2007, four tracks from their set at FUJI ROCK FESTIVAL ’25, and a limited-edition anniversary pouch with three unique items.
Adding to their celebratory streak, RADWIMPS has announced their RADWIMPS 20th ANNIVERSARY LIVE TOUR, a thrilling concert series that will unfold across nine cities in Japan, encompassing 17 arena dates. The homecoming shows in Yokohama promise to be exceptional, with special guests BUMP OF CHICKEN, Vaundy, and YOASOBI slated to grace the stage over three nights. The tour is set to culminate in a grandiose celebration on 23 November, which coincides with their official anniversary date.
