The band’s upcoming album, GLORY, was produced by Catherine Marks, a 3-time Grammy Award-winning producer from London. The band describes the album as a true reflection of themselves, created during a five-week recording session in a home studio on Darkinjung Land in New South Wales. Marks encouraged the band to explore new approaches and pushed them to create the sound they envisioned for the album. The result is a collection of songs that showcase the band’s musicality and unique sound.
GLORY has already seen success with singles like ‘BALCONY,’ ‘UNSCARRED,’ and ‘MOTHER,’ which have collectively garnered over 750,000 streams on Spotify. The album, mixed by 3-time Grammy Award-winning Oli Jacobs and mastered by Ruairi O’Flaherty, has received acclaim from various media outlets and music platforms.
The band, consisting of Anna Ryan, Scarlett McKahey, Jaida Stephenson, and Neve van Boxsel, has gained recognition since the release of their debut EP ‘Pretty Good For A Girl Band’ in 2022. Their debut album ‘I Love You’ reached #6 on the ARIA Charts, with singles like ‘I Used to Be Fun’ landing at #52 on the Triple J Hottest 100. Teen Jesus and the Jean Teasers have also received nominations and wins at various music awards ceremonies and have opened for international heavyweights like Foo Fighters and Pearl Jam.
Based in both Canberra and Melbourne, the band is not only focused on creating music but also addressing important issues facing women, non-binary individuals, and young people. They are involved in initiatives like Green Music’s No Music on a Dead Planet, Rising Tide, and advocating for Michael’s Rule. With their upcoming album and tour, Teen Jesus and the Jean Teasers continue to push boundaries and defy expectations in the music industry.
