Rockville promoter aims to develop numerous local partnerships
Daytona Beach’s tourism scene got a boost during the recent Tourism Partner Day, where the connection between Welcome to Rockville promoter Danny Wimmer Presents (DWP) and the area was highlighted. The event shed light on a signed agreement between DWP and the Ocean Center, solidifying their partnership.
News of the two-year contract between DWP and the Ocean Center had been circulating since the summer, but finalizing the agreement took time. “We just signed the contract,” said Doris Sims, senior vice president of business development for Danny Wimmer Presents, only a month ago. The deal signified a step forward in bringing more performances to the Daytona Beach area.
With the agreement in place, DWP is now set to begin booking acts for the Ocean Center. Unlike their signature event, Welcome to Rockville, which caters to a specific genre of music, the performers for the Ocean Center shows will span various genres based on public interest and demand. The goal is to bring diverse entertainment that appeals to a wide audience.
For the rest of this year, DWP plans to secure four to five acts for the Ocean Center, with plans to ramp up bookings in 2026. While DWP aims to cater to local residents, they also have their sights set on attracting a broader market that will boost tourism in the area. “We want people to drive here, stay the night,” Ms. Sims emphasized. By drawing crowds to the Ocean Center, DWP hopes to not only fill seats at the venue but also book rooms at nearby hotels, stimulating the local economy.
Furthermore, DWP inked a deal with the Daytona International Speedway to keep Welcome to Rockville in Daytona for the next decade. This long-term partnership ensures that the popular music festival will continue to draw crowds to the area, showcasing world-class entertainment for years to come. The collaboration between DWP, the Ocean Center, and other local partners underscores a collective effort to enhance the cultural and entertainment landscape of Daytona Beach.
