Colchester’s renowned blues artist, JAMES HUNTER, along with his band, has recently released a fresh single from their upcoming album. Titled ‘Ain’t That A Trip,’ the track is included in OFF The Fence, the premier album of THE JAMES HUNTER SIX under Dan Auerbach’s Easy Sound Label. This new single also highlights a special appearance by the iconic singer Van Morrison, with whom Hunter has collaborated on multiple projects since the early 90s.

Reflecting on the experience, Hunter expresses his admiration for Morrison’s vocal prowess, spanning from the electrifying performances during his Them days to the tender tones reminiscent of Smokey Robinson in songs like ‘Crazy Love.’ Hunter enthusiastically mentions the thrill of having Morrison lend his voice to a piece he penned, highlighting the excitement of the collaboration.

When asked about the inspiration behind ‘Ain’t That A Trip,’ Hunter acknowledges the influence of Jimmy Reed’s style on the track’s creation. Despite veering towards a more elaborate lyrical approach than Reed’s signature simplicity, Hunter provides insights into the difficulties of capturing the heartfelt essence that defined Reed’s music.

Scheduled for release on January 16, Off The Fence is now available for pre-order. Excitingly, The James Hunter Six is gearing up for a European Tour in the New Year, offering fans the chance to witness their live performances across various cities. The tour kicks off in Bristol on January 16 and includes stops in Brighton, London, Colchester, Glasgow, Newcastle, Leeds, Cambridge, Birmingham, Paris, Amsterdam, Hamburg, Berlin, and Munich throughout January and February.

As anticipation builds for the album release and upcoming tour, supporters and blues enthusiasts alike have the opportunity to delve into Hunter’s distinctive sound and experience the collaborative magic between Hunter and the legendary Van Morrison. With their shared musical history and creative energies, ‘Ain’t That A Trip’ provides a glimpse into the auditory treat that awaits fans when Off The Fence officially hits the airwaves.
